Jess Kennedy

COMPOSER, PIANIST, VOCALIST

From a young age, Jess has always had a creative imagination – happily spending hours making up plays, musicals and puppet shows in the backyard for her little sister to star in and her toys and parents to be audience to.

Growing up in Melbourne, Australia, listening to instrumental film scores, celtic folk, electronica, pop and grunge rock - Jess’ writing is characterised by her classical training, eclectic taste in music and love of the dramatic.

Over the years, Jess has collaborated with many musicians and ensembles, most significantly as co-writer, pianist and harmony vocalist in award-winning band Beatrix Players. Jess has toured in the UK and Germany and loves the feeling of being on the road and meeting new people through music.

Jess’ inclination toward writing emotionally charged, instrumental music has led her to her passion for film music composition.

Jess currently lives in Walthamstow, London, attracted to the sense of community and creativity that is alive there. When not playing music, Jess works as an environmentalist, helping organisations and projects become more sustainable. Jess is also an experienced music teacher, teaching piano and flute to students of all ages.
